イラン出身の陶芸家エルナーズ・ヌリザデによるマグカップと花器の展示販売をI AMにて開催しました。
初夏にぴったりの、力強く、美しい色が奏でるハーモニー。
抽象的なペインティングが施されたセラミックは文字通り日常を彩るアイテムです。
1. Tell us about your work.
あなたの作品について教えてください。
Earthenware ceramic is my primary medium for creating functional objects and sculptural forms. My functional work is a fusion of traditional wheel-thrown minimal shapes and modern, abstract and minimal handpainted patterns. I aim to bring art as a useable object into everyday life.
陶器は、機能的なオブジェや彫刻を作るための私の主な表現手段です。私の機能的な作品は、伝統的な轆轤（ろくろ）で挽いた最小限の形と、現代的で抽象的、最小限の手描きのパターンを融合させたものです。私は、日常生活に使えるオブジェとしてアートを取り入れることを目標としています。

3. What is your favourite product from your own brand?
好きなプロダクトは何ですか？
This is a tricky question; I like all my works, and that's why I make them. Each of them has different feelings. I like my vases because I can spend more time making many unusual combinations of forms and patterns. I love my cups because they give me the freedom of trying.
Also, I know many more people can have them and enjoy using them. Then I love my tableware because it makes me imagine how the patterns will talk with the food inside them. Each of them has its personality; I can't say which is my favourite.
これは難しい質問で、私はすべての作品が好きで、だからこそ作っているのです。それぞれの作品に違った思いがあります。花器が好きなのは、形や模様の珍しい組み合わせをたくさん作ることに時間をかけられるからです。カップが好きなのは、自由に試せるからです。
また、より多くの人が手にし、楽しんで使ってくれるでしょう。それから、食器も大好きです。食器の中に入れる料理によって、模様がどのように変化するのか、想像が膨らむからです。どれも個性的で、どれが好きとは言えません。
4. Tell us about a time in your career that you’ll never forget.
あなたのキャリアの中で、忘れられない時を教えてください。
The first time I made a piece on the wheel, I was 14 years old. I made a perfect, centred vase; it was beautiful. As soon as I finished it, my mentor gave me a knife and asked me to cut it. I tried to avoid it, but she was serious. She said: if you don’t, I won’t teach you anymore. She said: call me when you cut it and left the studio. It took a while; I put on tears and cut the vase, I Called my teacher, and she came and showed me hidden mistakes on the piece.
Then she told me: ceramic is like life, very fragile, there is always some stuff that can break and go wrong, if you get attached to them you will hurt yourself, you won’t see the mistakes and won't improve. Always feel the feelings, find the errors and trust yourself that you can make it better and move on. This event is part of my life now, and I will never forget it.
初めて轆轤で作品を作ったのは、14歳の時でした。 完璧な花瓶を作ることができ、とてもきれいでした。完成するとすぐに、師匠からナイフを渡され、切るように言われたんです。私はそれを避けようとしましたが、彼女は真剣でした。「切らないと、もう教えないわよ」と言われました。「切ったら呼んでね」と言って、スタジオを出て行きました。涙を流しながらようやく花瓶を切り、先生を呼んだら来てくれて、作品の隠れたミスを教えてくれました。
「陶芸は人生と同じで、とても壊れやすく、うまくいかないことが常にあるものです。愛着が湧くと痛い目をみる。間違いに気がつかず、向上しないのよ。」
常にフィーリングを感じ、間違いを見つけ、自分なら改善できると信じて、前に進む。この出来事は、今の私の人生の一部であり、決して忘れることはないでしょう。
5. Have you ever been to Japan? If so, what places have you visited in Japan? What are your memories of Japan like? Where is your memorable place?
日本に行ったことがありますか？もしあれば、日本のどのような場所を訪れたことがありますか？
Sadly not yet. My partner and I planned to go to Japan in 2020, then Covid hit, and we couldn't.
We hope we can go one day soon. There are many places I would like to visit, such as Tokyo, Arita and Imari and a few more ceramic towns. I also love to visit as many shrines as possible, specifically The Floating Vermilion Gates of Saga’s Ōuo Shrine. If I could see the Waterfalls in Yamato-cho, that would be the best trip of my life.
悲しいことにまだないんです。パートナーと私は2020年に日本に行く予定でしたが、コロナウィルスに見舞われ、行けなくなりました。いつか近いうちに行けることを願っています。東京、有田、伊万里、いくつかの陶器の街など、行ってみたいところはたくさんあります。 また、できるだけ多くの神社を訪れたく、特に佐賀の大魚神社の浮き海中鳥居に行きたいです。山都町（熊本県）の滝を見ることができたら、それは私の人生で最高の旅になるでしょうね。
6. Which artists inspire you? Are there any artists in Japan that you get inspiration from?
どのようなアーティストにインスパイアされますか？日本でインスピレーションを受けるアーティストはいますか？
I'm interested in colour field movement, most of the artists in this genre inspire me; also, I love Joan Miro paintings. I have a powerful feeling about Hokusai’s paintings. Every minor detail in his painting is a whole new series of works and studies. I can sit for hours and hours and just observe the details in The Waterfall Where Yoshitsune Washed His Horse at Yoshino in Yamato Province painting. I also love Yayoi Kusama’s artworks.
私はカラーフィールド・ムーブメント（50-60年代 アメリカを中心とした抽象絵画のムーブメント）に関心があり、このジャンルのアーティストのほとんどが私にインスピレーションを与えてくれます。また、ジョアン・ミロの絵も好きです。北斎の絵には強い思い入れがあります。北斎の絵は、細かいディテールのひとつひとつが、まったく新しい作品や習作のシリーズになっているんです。「和州吉野義経馬洗瀧（わしゅうよしのよしつねうまあらいのたき）」は、何時間でも座って細部を観察することができます。草間彌生さんの作品も大好きです。
7. What is your favourite time of the day?
一日のうちで好きな時間帯は？
I love mornings and evenings; I'm more living in the moment during these hours. I'm full of energy to do what I need to do. I'm full of new ideas and energy to enjoy living basic everyday
tasks in the evenings. I enjoy super early mornings, like 4 to 7 am.
私は朝や夕方が好きです。この時間帯は、より今を生きることができるのです。やるべきことをやるエネルギーに満ち溢れています。夕方には新しいアイデアとエネルギーに満ち溢れ、日々のタスクを楽しくこなすことができます。朝は4時から7時のような早朝も好きです。
8. What are your weaknesses?
あなたの弱みはなんですか？
I have many weaknesses, but I am not sure If I can fit them all here. My funnies weakness is that I am addicted to buying notebooks, pens and socks. The next one is I am not good in language even my mother tong language is broken, my partner has to correct me all the time.
The most challenging weakness is my struggle to find the right balance between being alone and social life. I started to practice more to find the right balance so that I don't drown in my solitary and have enough lonely moments.
私にはたくさんの弱点がありますが、ここに全部書ききれるかどうかわかりません。私の面白い弱点は、ノート、ペン、靴下を買うことにハマっていることです。次に、言語が苦手で、母国語さえおぼつかないので、パートナーにいつも訂正されています。
最も困難な弱点は、一人でいることとソーシャルライフの適切なバランスを見つけるのに苦労していることです。孤独に溺れることなく、また独りの時間を十分に持てるように、正しいバランスを見つけるためにもっと練習し始めました。
9. What music do you love? Please share with us your favourite artists and albums (at least 5 please!) and why you often listen to this music.
あなたはどんな音楽が好きですか？好きなアーティストやアルバム（最低5枚はお願いします！）、そしてその音楽をよく聴く理由を教えてください。
I love classical music a lot; Bach is my top priority. It’s almost two years since I became more book and podcast listeners than music. I used to play all the random music from any artists before working, but now I am about 4 hours, I listen to a book, around 30 minutes of relaxing or classical music, and rest I work in silence. It is hard to name them now as I don’t listen that much. I also love Pink Floyd songs, then classic Iranian singer Farshad Jamali, who sings classic poems. Other I can name I love Nothing else matters Metallica and Duch singer Sharon Kovacs.
私はクラシック音楽がとても好きで、バッハが一番です。音楽よりも本やポッドキャストのリスナーになり、もうすぐ2年になります。以前は仕事前にどんなアーティストの音楽でも適当に流していましたが、今は4時間くらい、本を聴き、30分くらいリラックスできる音楽やクラシック音楽を聴き、あとは黙々と仕事をする感じです。今はそんなに音楽を聴かないので、挙げるのが難しいです。ピンクフロイドの曲も好きですし、イランのクラシック歌手、Farshad Jamali（ファルシャド・ジャマリ）は、クラシックな詩を歌います。その他は、MetallicaのNothing else mattersとオランダ人シンガーSharon Kovacs（シャロン・コバチ）が好きです。
10. A book that you recommend to many people?
多くの人に勧めたい本は？
It is impossible to do one. The last recent ones, which I highly recommend to all my friends and families, are the Atomic habits by James Clear, The hidden life of trees by Peter Wohlleben and The Diving-bell and the butterfly by Jean-Dominique Bauby. I highly recommend 100 years of solitude from classic novels anytime I talk about books.
一つでは無理なのですが、最近のもので友人や家族みんなに強くお勧めしたのは、ジェームズ・クリアーの「複利で伸びる1つの習慣」、ピーター・ヴォールレーベンの「樹木たちの知られざる生活 - 森林管理官が聴いた森の声」、ジャン＝ドミニック・ボービーの「潜水服は蝶の夢を見る」。私は本の話をするときはいつも、古典的な小説の中から「百年の孤独」（ガブリエル・ガルシア＝マルケス）を強く薦めています。
11. What are you thinking about your life and the world these days?
最近、あなたは自分の人生や世界についてどのように考えていますか？
I think we live in a strange time in history; many things happen in these shocking years. War is one of them. Living in this moment of history is fascinating; however, I am more kind of a person who prefers quiet times with fewer contrast events and a balanced, harmonic lifestyle. I love to see how people act to help fast without waiting for governments to take action and send for help; I feel like humanity has become more aware and kinder.
私たちは歴史の中で奇妙な時代に生きていると思います。この衝撃的な年にいろいろなことが起こります。戦争もその一つです。この歴史の瞬間を生きることは魅力的ですが、私はどちらかというと、対照的な出来事が少ない静かな時代、バランスのとれた調和的なライフスタイルを好む人間です。私は、人々が政府が行動を起こすのを待たずに、迅速に助けるために行動するのを見るのが好きです。人類はより意識的になり、より優しくなっているように感じます。
